ADDITIONS/ CHANGES TO OUR CERTIFICATION PROCESS

CHILDREN'S ACCREDITATION
The new updated Children's Accreditation Workbook is now available online!  Click here for the workbook in PDF format.  (Contact the PSIA-C office to have the workbook emailed to you in MS Word format.)  The workbook is available for your use as a training guide for teaching children or as the required written portion of the Children's Accreditation. The table of contents guides you through the Children's Instruction Manual as you complete the workbook.  If you intend to participate in the Children's Accreditation, you must complete and return the workbook to the PSIA-C office two weeks prior to participating in the on snow portion.  If you would like a printed hard copy of the workbook sent to you, please contact the PSIA-C office.

ALPINE LEVEL 2 EXAM
The on snow exam will be a two-day event with a different examiner on each day.  Teaching and skiing will be evaluated on each day, and the candidate must meet National standards for teaching and skiing on both days to become Level 2 Certified.  Individuals may still be accredited if they only pass either the teaching or skiing category.  The cost for the Level 2 exam is still $150.00 for two days.  The most important change is for those who are accredited and are needing to re-test in either the teaching or skiing category.  In the past, those individuals would only have to attend for one day.  Now these individuals will be tested on both days.  The cost for accredited individuals is only $75.00 for two days.

The previous process forced "at a glance examining".  Examiners spent a very short period of time with each candidate during the teaching exam day and may only see each skiing maneuver once. This format, unfortunately, brought conflict and disagreement between candidates and examiners. As a result, consistency and creditability have suffered. These changes in the Alpine Level 2 exam will allow candidates to demonstrate skills for two different examiners, reducing subjectivity and allowing participants to have greater confidence in the exam process.
