Ski w/ The D-Team: Alpine Valley, MI, February 14-15, 2004

Prerequisites: All Certified PSIA Members

Clinic participants will ski with a current or former National Demonstration Team Member for two days.  The team members will work with the group on the latest development in skiing and teaching at the national level. 

Freestyle Accreditation
: Hyland Hills, MN, February 21-22, 2004
Cost: $150
Limited to SIX Participants only!!!
Prerequisites:
AASI certified Level 1 or higher
This two-day education/accreditation event will test your ability to coach and perform introductory and intermediate snowboard freestyle maneuvers.

Teaching Kids to Snowboard: Boston Mills, OH, February 21, 2004
Cost: $70
Prerequisites:
AASI Member
This one-day clinic is to help the individual master the art of children's snowboard instruction.

*You must complete the Children's Accreditation Workbook available on our website at www.psia-c.org/forms/index.htm. We can also email the workbook to you in MS Word, just send us a request at info@psia-c.org.  You must have the completed workbook turned into the PSIA-C office at least two weeks before the clinic.                                                                                                                                        

Special Events
WOMEN'S GROUP:  March 6-7, 2004, Schuss Mt., MI  Join us for a fun women's group during the Schuss Spring event.  The women's only group is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a PSIA-C clinic, make new friends, as well as refine skiing skills in a relaxed setting.  The women's group will focus on biomechanical and movement pool exploration using alignment, stance, and balance drills at an easy pace.  The softer flex and shorter lengths are encouraging improvements for women specific equipment.  The group will apply techniques for shaped skis and video analysis will be available.  We only have openings for 12 participants, so register early! Cost: $100 for two days.

Spring Rally! Nordic Rendezvous! Come ski or board your heart out at Vail, CO, April 8-9, 2004.  Cost is only $100!  We will be broadcasting more details as they become available.  This event DOES count as continuing education.

EXAM INFORMATION

New PSIA-C Written Exams
There will be new written exams given in the Central Division starting February 23, 2004.  The required reading materials for all three Alpine levels is the PSIA Children's Instructional Manual, PSIA Core Concepts & the PSIA Alpine Technical Manual (revised 2002).  The material in the written exams is based on the National Alpine Certification Standards (Click here for National Alpine Certification Standards) and represents a minimum competency and understanding in teaching and professional knowledge for each certification level.

Taking the Alpine Level 2 or 3 Exam this season?
Remember that you must have your written exam completed in order to have your application accepted for registration for the on hill exam.  This means that your application will be received by our office, but it does not guarantee you a spot in the exam until your written exam has been passed.  You can contact your section representative of your area to find an examiner who can administer the exam to you. (Click here for the list of Section Representatives.)  Remember that you can take a written exam at no cost at any of our regularly scheduled events, just contact the PSIA-C office to ensure that an exam will be made available for you.  Live near the Lansing, MI area?  You can take your written exam at the PSIA-Central office.  Our hours for exams are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST.
