*The Alpine Level 3 Written Exam must be taken online prior to registering for the on-snow portion of the exam.
“Participants can choose to take either module but both modules must be passed to gain a Level 3 Certification.
What:The Level 3 exam is the third step in the certification process. The 2-day, 2 module process gives instructors an opportunity to have their skiing, teaching and technical skills evaluated against PSIA National Standards for Level 3 certification in separate stages.
Why: The Level 3 exam gives the candidate an opportunity to learn collaboratively with the PSIA C education staff as well as other candidates. The Level 3 exam is the next step after Level 2 in the exam process for instructors who wish to expand their teaching careers. The candidate has the opportunity to enhance their teaching, skiing and technical skills at a higher level including training other instructors at your local school.
How: The exam consists of two separate module days where the candidate is evaluated against on their skiing, teaching and technical knowledge against PSIA national standards for Level 3. The skiing portion will be an evaluation of skiing ability and the application of skiing skills throughout different movement pools. The teaching portion will consist of evaluation of the instructors teaching skills and knowledge application skills in the Advanced zones including movement analysis. The candidate must pass the written exam, and both the Skiing Module and the Teaching module to attain the Level 3 certification.
It’s rare that we cancel an entire event unless the resort/area is closed, but we often find it necessary to cancel or combine sessions at an event because the session minimum has not been met. When this happens, we will contact you as early as possible and offer other session options at the same event or transfer you to another event. Cancellation and transfer fees do not apply under these circumstances. If we cancel a session you are registered for, and it is not possible for you to attend another event by the end of the season, your registration fee sub any administrative fees will be refunded. If you are in need of education credits for this season then all possible pathways must be exhausted before a waiver is granted. (Webinars, Non ASEA Events, etc.) “” “
